M is for mystery
Article Abstract:
Caravaggio was the son of a stonemason from the village of that name, for his real name was Michelangelo Merisi. There have been five works on this 16th century artist, and each provides an individualized portrait. There are disputes on Caravaggio's religious views and his sexual orientation. He has become a gay icon, but some authors argue that he was not gay. His paintings may be the best way to judge him, for he left little in writing for modern authors to study.
