MAHARASHTRA SIGNS MoUs WITH ENRON, EASTERN ENERGY
Article Abstract:
The Government of Maharashtra has signed pacts with Enron Corporation (EC) and Eastern Energy Limited (EEL) of USA. Under the pact, EC will supply gas to the Uran thermal electricity plant. The thermal power plant, which has an installed capacity of 900 mw, now gets gas supply from the Bombay High, which does not meet the plant's total needs. EC will supply the needed gas for the Uran plant from its Dhabol plant. The Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) has signed a pact with EEL for upgradation of 2 thermal plants at Nasik and Koradi. After modernisation, the capacity of the plants are expected to increase to over 200 mw. (gs)

EASY LIQUIDITY SEES CALL RATES CLOSE AT 8-8.10%

Easy liquidity helped call rates close at 8-8.10 percent at the interbank call money market on October 5, 1998. The Reserve Bank of India's three-day fixed rate repo also mobilised Rs1186 crore at 8 percent. The Reuters Mumbai interbank overnight average MIBR closed at 8.06 percent on October 5, 1998. (khr)
