TITAN EUROPE TIES UP WITH WIL

Titan Europe Ltd (TEL) is the new foreign partner of Wheels India Ltd (WIL), a TVS group company. TEL is the subsidiary of Titan Wheel International Inc of the US and the world's number one producer of wheels and tyres for earth moving, construction and agricultural equipment. TEL has acquired 35.91 percent stake of WIL from Dunlop Holdings Ltd of BTR Plc. TEL has purchased 3,544,470 shares of WIL of Rs10 each at Rs139 per share. TEL and Sundaram Finance (SF) of TVS group will come out with an open offer through SBI Capital Markets Ltd for 1,833,182 shares of WIL or 18.58 percent at Rs140 per share. SF will acquire five percent of the issued capital and TEL the remaining 13.58 percent. TEL will have one nominee on the board of WIL and TVS group will continue to manage the company. Partnership with TEL will help WIL to have a strong hold on the heavy vehicles' wheels market. (kp)(m)

ORG-MARG ON TAKEOVER BINGE TO OUTFLANK AC NIELSEN

ORG-MARG, a market research company, has taken up an acquisition drive to compete with multinational companies like AC Nielsen. It has started the acquisition drive by taking up 100 percent stake in Indian Research & Information Services (IRIS). The acquisition of IRIS will enable ORG-MARG to include tracking services in the telecom area under its product portfolio. ORG-MARG is also entering into joint ventures or technical pacts will international companies for offering a range of professional services. Interpublic Group of Companies Inc of the US, a public relations company, has increased its presence in India following the acquisition of International Public Relations Plc (IPR) of the UK as Interpublic holds 40 percent stake in Corporate Voice Shandwick Public Relations (Corvo PR) of Bangalore, a company of the IPR group.
