Magical no more?
Article Abstract:
Calls by the Swiss People's Party for an enhanced role in government have prompted the resignations of Foreign Minister Flavio Cotti and Justice Minister Arnold Koller, both Christian Democrats. This development highlights significant divisions about Switzerland's future. Christoph Blocher, the most well-known figure in the People's Party, wants to keep Switzerland independent of the European Union, while the government, and most French-Swiss, would like to see Switzerland join the European Union. Many Eurosceptics, mostly German-Swiss, are now backing the People's Party.
