Major markets: food: the German market for breakfast cereals: total market size: sectoral performance: volume
Article Abstract:
The German family breakfast cereals sector registered the highest growth of 21.9% in terms of volume during the 1993-1997 period and around 4.8% in 1997 from 1996. The rising preference of German consumers to convenient snacks at day time and the increasing need for healthy and light breakfast prompted the growth of both family and children's breakfast cereals. Launches of innovative products in both sectors have also contributed to the increase in both volume and value shares. The higher results are also attributed to the depressed prices and the boosted budget for advertising activities.
