M&M TO EXPORT 5,000 ENGINES TO FRANCE
Article Abstract:
Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd (M&M) will be exporting Peugeot's XD3 engines to France. It will be exporting 5,000 engines worth Rs12 crore to ECIA MPS, a subsidiary of Automobile Peugeot of France. Currently, M&M produces the XD3 engine at its engine production unit at Igatpuri in India. M&M will be supplying seven XD3 engine components like cylinder blocks, cylinder head assemblies and crankshafts. It has already exported 400 sets to France. M&M will be exporting the 1,900 sets by the end of March 1999. The whole order will be executed by mid 1999. (ag)(m)

RANE ENGINE VALVES FD,CP

Industrial Investment Credit Rating Agency (ICRA) has downgraded the rating of FD programme of Rane Engine Valves Ltd (REVL) from MAA (highest safety) to MAA- (high safety with relatively lower standing within the category). ICRA has also downgraded the rating of REVL's Rs5 crore commercial paper (CP) programme from A1+ to A1. The ratings took into account the merger of the previously Engine Valves Ltd with its subsidiary Engine Components to form REVL and also the dwindling capacity utilisation and fall in operating margins. AUTO KIT INDUSTRY EXPECTS PRICE HIKE
Article Abstract:
The Indian automotive component industry has expressed its disappointment over Budget 1998-99 and states that auto kits prices will increase. It had demanded for an increase in import duty on engine and engine components from 20 percent to 40 percent. The other auto components duty is around 40 percent. The government has hiked the import duty on engines and its parts to 30 percent in the 1998-99 budget. It has imposed eight percent duty on imports across the board. (rk)
