M&S review may spark sale of U.S. chains

Marks & Spencer PLC's review of its businesses could lead to the sale of the company's Brooks Brothers stores and Kings supermarket chain. Marks & Spencer has been hit hard by the slowdown in European and Asian retail markets. The company said that it was undecided on selling Brooks and Kings. Marks & Spencer's review is scheduled to be finished by June 1999. A company spokeswoman said Marks & Spencer is studying other options.
