Many Thai firms flunk test
Article Abstract:
Several companies in Thailand were unable to pass a bankruptcy prediction model called Altman's Z-score. The test, which was conducted by Paribas Asia Equity, revealed that 70% of the 197 nonfinancial listed companies tested were classified under bankrupt category. Only 19 companies were cited as not effectively bankrupt. The poor performance of Thai companies on the test are being attributed to several economic factors, such as heavy concentration of investments on unproductive assets.
