Market moves: PwC Asia Pacific restructures
Article Abstract:
PricewaterhouseCoopers has reorganized the 100-person team in charge of its privatization and project finance practices in the Asia Pacific region. Andrew Hagger heads project finance and privatization and is based in Jakarta, while Tony Coleman is in charge of the project finance team in Sydney and Neil Behrens handles privatization in Melbourne. Several other executives have been appointed to lead privatization teams in Thailand, China, Indonesia and Korea and project finance in Japan and Singapore. Hagger says the new structure is necessary because linking privatization M&A skills with advisory skills in project finance is synergistic. PwC is one of three firms advising Korea Electric Power Corp on utility privatization.

Accountants - who needs them?
Article Abstract:
It is widely acknowledged that accountants have a central role to play in the privatization process, nowhere more so than in the world's emerging markets. In such markets, where local accounting practices differ widely from those employed internationally, the need for financial accounting has outdistanced the need for management accounting, but the main emphasis should be on management accounting and the need to attend to business survival.
