The oral hygiene sector of the cosmetics and toiletries market in Hungary has reported sales of $39.9 million in 1997, up from $38.4 million in 1996 and $33.3 million in 1993. The sector has secured a 12.1% market share in the overall cosmetics and toiletries market from 1993 to 1997. Sales growth of the sector, which consist of toothpaste and toothbrush in Hungary, has increased by 20% during the review period. The growth, which moved at the same rate as in other sectors of the market, was attributed to a rise in advertising and health awareness of consumers in Hungary.

The sun care sector of the cosmetics and toiletries market in Hungary has reported the least market share secured at 1.5% to a sales of $4.9 million in 1997 in the overall market. Sun care products, which is also the newest in the overall cosmetics and toiletries market, has reported about 11% rise in value terms from $4.4 million in 1993 to 1997. The growing consciousness of Hungarians to health as well as environment-related issues have helped propel the sector during the five-year review period although its rate of growth is still considered slow by analysts.
