Marketing study focuses on tomorrow's young consumers

Grey China has carried out a study of children influence on household purchase in China. The study showed 69% of household spending and 86% of leisure activity is influenced by child. This could be attributed the country's one-child policy. Children's product market is a lucrative market in China as there are 300 mn children under 14 years age. They get income from various sources such as pocket money parent also from grandparents. China's children seem to have the greatest influence on products like PCs, stationery, and foods. *

Smuggling crackdown launched

Results from the crackdown on oil product smuggling have been seen as the oil prices rose by RMB30 per ton. In the first half, the prices fell by more than RMB300 per ton because of smuggling. This affected oil companies' profitability. Since June, the Government began to tackle smuggling by reducing the price gap of domestic oil and international market. According to last year figures, the officials seized 150,000 tons of smuggled oil products. Experts estimated 1 mn tons were smuggled in. *
