Striking a cord
Article Abstract:
Back pain causes the loss of 60 million working days per year in the UK. The most common conditions are muscle strain, sacroiliac strain and slipped discs, but others include ankylosing spondylitis and cancer. Many conditions recover within four weeks with rest and the administration of painkillers, but other drugs used may include anti-inflammatory drugs and tricyclic anti-depressant drugs. Therapies which may be helpful include acupuncture, physiotherapy, and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.

Do you have staying power?
Article Abstract:
Offering staff increased wages is not necessarily the only way forward for small firms who seek to retain their employees. A small firm will have invested a lot of time, money and effort in a new employee therefore it is in the firms best interest to ensure the employee stays with the company. Share options, flexible working arrangements and increased responsibility are proven methods of ensuring staff stay put and are not tempted away by the promise of higher wages.
