Reminiscence of a dinner meeting that Martin Pawley had with Count Faber-Castell of Germany quite some time ago is discussed. There were opinions that wooden pencils were on the way out at that time, but that scenario did not occur. The Count's 15 plants throughout the world generated 1.8 bil wooden pencils in 2002.
