Article Abstract:
Unknown assailants are attacking Algeria villages and burning homes to the ground. The Armed Islamic Group (GIA) is suspected, but has not claimed responsibility. In the latest attack, 50 people were killed in the village of Si Zerouk. The government continues to battle the GIA, but is not protecting villages.

The concepts of globalization and flexible labor markets are sound, but governments must better explain the long-term benefits to citizens. South Korea's rapid growth, governmental awkwardness, and resulting labor strife illustrates the problem of selling deregulation to the public.

The beauty of being Belgium is skin-deep; though competition has held back the growth of electronic money elsewhere, collusion may not be a better answer

An electronic smart card called Proton has become very popular in Belgium, and consumers can use it to make even extremely small purchases. The government has promoted the card and banks have collaborated on it. Consumers may not be well-served by this type of policy.
