Unemployment in the UK has risen every month for nearly three years, with the jobless numbering 2.97 million. Many government critics estimate the actual figures to be higher and state that the government continually changes its methods of calculating these statistics.

Workfare? Unemployment

The UK is considering a workfare program for its unemployed patterned after the US model. Other European countries spend more on the training of their unemployed than does the UK, and the US spends the least.
