Melnik has completed the desulphurising of a 6,000 MWe block
Article Abstract:
CEZ (Czech Republic), power firm, started the pilot operation of the last of 12 desulphurising units on 12 November 1998. The firm has installed all the desulphurising equipment at its power stations during the last seven years. The costs on the largest European environmental project were 25 bil Kc. Mainly foreign firms participated in CEZ's desulphurising programme. Nearly each of the desulphurising units was supplied by a different supplier. Only the desulphurising of the power station Pocerady was realised by a joint venture of Hoelter (Germany) and Prerovske strojirny (Czech Republic) according to the technology Hoelter-Lurgi. Czech firms were only the subsuppliers of the contracts.

An industrial waste incinerating plant
Article Abstract:
Kaucuk (Kralupy nad Vltavou, Czech Republic), chemical company, supports the protection of the environment. The firm's industrial waste incinerating plant with a capacity of about 12,000 t of industrial waste per year is utilised for the disposal of waste from the production of rubber, cosmetics, hygienic supplies and fuels. Steam from the incinerating plant is utilised within the company. The general supplier of the incinerating plant was the engineering and metallurgy firm Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic). Integral (Vienna, Austria) was the supplier of engineering and special components for the project.
