Metro expects to post higher earnings

Metro AG is expecting post an improvement in its earnings for the first-half of 1999. The retail company is expected to report between 20.61 billion euros and 20.78 billion euros in sales for the period. Metro's operating profits will hit approximately 82.27 million euros. The company adjusted net sales reached 25.55 billion marks (13.06 billion euros) in the same period in 1998.
