Mexican satellites raise $690 million
Article Abstract:
A joint venture led by Loral Space and Communications has paid around $690 million for a 75% stake in the Mexican government's satellite system, known as Satmex. Loral will hold 49% of Satmex, with Mexican concern Telefonica Autrey holding 26%. The remaining 25% will be kept by the Mexican government, but this will be placed on the stock market within five years. The system is made up of three satellites in operation and a fourth under construction.

Mexico kicks off privatisation plans
Article Abstract:
Privatisation is moving ahead in Mexico and the government has recently announced guidelines for railway concessions and the natural gas industry bidding. Bidding has also opened for the first secondary petrochemical complexes. Also a new infrastructure fund has been set up by the government, to encourage private projects.

Mexico hopes to raise $12-14 million
Article Abstract:
Mexico is aiming to raise $12-14 billion through privatisations during the next three years and privatisation is expected in such areas as power plants, petrochemicals, airports, ports, satellites and railroads. The government is also accepting bids for local and long distance telephone services.
