Michelin unveils plan to reduce jobs amid improved results for its first half

Michelin SA introduced a restructuring plan for its operations in Europe. The plan will lead to the downsizing of up to 7,500 jobs. The company posted a 17% improvement in its net profits for the first-half of 1999. Michelin's restructuring plan was made to counter stronger European competition.
