Microsoft to invest $500 million in NTL
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Corp. has reached an agreement to invest $500 million to acquire 5.25% of NTL Inc.'s convertible preferred stock. The investment could speed up NTL's high-speed telephone, digital cable television, and Internet network rollout. NTL is widely seen as the most aggressive of Great Britain's three major cable television operators. NTL will use the Microsoft investment to finance its network. NTL also hopes to use Microsoft's name to promote its new services.
