Ente Nazionale Idrocarburi (ENI) will be privatized with an initial tranche of between 10% and 15% to be offered in fall 1995. ENI has one shareholder, which is the Italian Treasury. The Treasury thus stands to benefit from the sale of ENI. Foreign investors are interested in acquiring a stake in the company which has improved its results through restructuring, in addition to benefiting from better economic conditions. There is a sole legal obstacle relating to the company's hydrocarbon rights in Italy's Po Valley.
