Minimum quality standards with more than two firms
Article Abstract:
The implementation of a minimum quality standard (MQS) tends to affect the decisional problems confronting companies. Specifically, implementation of MQS was found to be not always associated with a rise in company profit under an oligopoly setting. A three-firm set-up revealed that MQS tends to be financially beneficial to some companies only if it causes a low quality company to be no longer feasible.
