More bigeye with deep-set longlined
Article Abstract:
Deep setting long lines shall considerably eliminate the problem of by-catch of turtles and birds, and this shall also increase the catch of targeted tuna, according to Australian fishery researchers. In a paper submitted to the 17th committee on Tuna and Billfish, the research team reported that the big eye tuna catches were boosted by 42% during tests.
