Move over Anne, here comes Emily
Article Abstract:
A mischievous red-haired girl who is the fictional character in author Lucy Maud Montgomery's book 'Anne of Green Gables' has drawn millions of tourists to Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.). Anne's popularity may be somewhat displaced by the emergence of a more autobiographical girl from a lesser known book 'Emily of the New Moon' by author Wayne Wright. The P.E.I. government has capitalized on Emily's popularity, which has grown because of a television series based on Wright's books. Yet both heroines have clearly boosted P.E.I.'s tourism industry.
