Canadian fast food chain Mr Submarine Ltd has introduced Village Beanery coffee, Frutazza smoothies and oven-baked fries as part of a national promotion which include store redesigns. The new products and promotions are part of a recovery plan to reverse the losses the firm suffered in the recession of the early 1990s and the effects of the entry of Subway Restaurants. The renovations include a new cafe design which use softer colors, while high-profile TV advertisements have been revived.

Teletoon more than just kids stuff

Teletoon Canada Inc is receiving strong interest from adult advertisers, although the Toronto, Ontario-based animation station is more popularly known for its children programming. Teletoon, which counts Guinness beer among its growing group of adult advertisers, boasts of programming and advertising that is broken up through the day. The specialty channel broadcasts adult-oriented cartoon shows such as Duckman, Ned's Newt and Spawn.

Virgin goes for the unconventional

Leading Brands, a Vancouver, British Columbia-based distributor of the Virgin beverage line, has announced plans to extend the distribution of the drink into Ontario and Quebec. The company will use several sales promotions such as giving away airline tickets and Fender Stratocaster guitars in support of the expansion.
