Murray Johnstone Private Equity
Article Abstract:
Venture capital firm Murray Johnstone Private Equity (MJPE) has made several ground-breaking moves in 1995, particularly the planned Sept. 1995 launch of the Murray VCT, one of the first venture capital trusts. MJPE head David MacLellan believes that MJPE's experience of investing in small and medium-sized firms makes it suited to the idea of VCTs. Another way in which MJPE has differentiated itself from its rivals in 1995 is the extension of its regional network, via the acquisition of Birmingham-based SUMIT Equity Ventures, and plans for a South Yorkshire office.

Mezzanine Management
Article Abstract:
UK mezzanine fund Mezzanine Management is finding more interesting opportunities in continental Europe than in the UK and now regards itself as a pan-European firm. The firm was set up in 1988 as adviser to investment fund First Britannia. Mezzanine Management has produced high returns via its strategy of selective investment, and it plans to maintain this strategy. Given that the constitution of First Britannia means it has an indefinite life, Mezzanine Management is now starting to consider its future and the directions it could move into.
