NFCL SALES, NET FALL; DIVIDEND PUT AT 18%

The turnover of Nagarjuna Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (NFCL) fell to Rs795.88 crore in 1997-98 (Rs922.49 crore in 1996- 97). Its net profit was Rs122.10 crore (Rs161.20 crore). Its depreciation was Rs5.96 crore (Rs76.61 crore). It has maintained its dividend at 18 percent for 1997-98. The decision of the Government of India to reduce the retention price of urea and the curbs on the offtake of urea above 115 percent of the installed capacity have hit the net profit of NFCL. Its capacity was increased to 1 million tonnes of urea per annum in 1997-98. (rk)

Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd of Hyderabad has declared an 18 percent dividend for 1997-98. This will involve an outflow of Rs59.78 crore towards payment of the dividend. The company's turnover fell from Rs922.49 crore in 1996-97 to Rs795.88 crore in 1997-98. Its production of urea also declined to 6.89 lakh tonnes from 7.17 lakh tonnes. Its net profit declined by 24 percent to Rs122.10 crore in 1997-98 against Rs161.20 crore in 1996-97. (khr)

Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Ltd of the Nagarjuna group has increased it turnover by 40 percent to Rs348.05 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 1998 against Rs249.40 crore in the third quarter ended December 31, 1997. The company's net profit increased by over 52 percent to Rs51.35 crore against Rs33.67 crore while interest charges increased to Rs75.13 crore from Rs44.86 crore. (khr)
