Rational Software Corporation India (RSCI) plans to focus on local software development companies. RSCI offers software automation tools. It plans to increase its sales staff from 16 and also plans to open offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. It is likely to extend its distribution network to all cities in India. RSCI is a 100 percent subsidiary of Rational Software Corporation. Local software development companies currently account for 30 percent of its revenues. This is likely to increase to 50 percent. RSCI has projected a revenue of Rs12 crore for 1998-99. (rk)(vr)

The Hyderabad Software Technology Park has maintained a growth of more than 100 percent. India is, therefore, not likely to face problems in increasing export earnings from Hyderabad to more than Rs500 crore in 1998-99 (Rs274 crore in 1997-98). In the second quarter of 1998-99, the export earnings of 4 software companies were around Rs191.83 crore. (ag)
