DUTY-FREE IMPORTS FOR HARDWARE
Article Abstract:
The Government of India has announced a special duty- free scheme for the hardware sector. Under the scheme companies would be allowed to import hardware parts such as integrated circuits and sub-assemblies for manufacturing products for export. The exporters should account for such imported items at the end of year to officers nominated by the Department of Electronics of the Government. (gs)

RUPEE STAYS STRONG AND FIRM

Rupee stayed strong in the foreign exchange markets on March 16, 1999 and closed at 42.40/405 against the dollar. Spot trading was dull as dollar traded between 42.4025-42.4075 throughout the day. Euro fell marginally against dollar from 1.0940 to 1.0870. (um)(psr)
