Nervous neighbours
Article Abstract:
There is growing concern in Malaysia and Singapore that serious economic problems in Indonesia could create further instability in the region as a whole. Furthermore, these countries also fear an influx of Indonesian refugees. Indeed, there have been rumours that naval bases in both countries have been put on alert. Malaysia and Singapore have become so concerned about developments in Indonesia that they have put aside bilateral conflicts in order to encourage regional stability.
