Bon-EE-Best wins top product honour

Bon-EE-Best won the All-Canadian New Product Award for its NatureEgg Break-Free liquid eggs at the 6th Annual Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards. The award was started in 1993 by the Canadian Council of Grocery Distributors and 'Canadian Grocer Magazine' to honor the best new consumer products in Canada. Other winners include Canadian Fishing Co, for its smoked tuna slices in the grocery category, A Lassonde for its orange juice product in the beverages category, and Intercorp Excelle Foods in the condiments and sauces category.

Trutaste opens new butter category
Article Abstract:
Neilson Diary of Toronto, Ontario, has developed a new type of spreadable butter called Trutaste. The product is designed to compete with margarine. Packaged in a plastic tub, the product has a slightly sweet butter taste, half the calories and 56% less fat than regular butter and a yogurt-like texture. Trutaste is being tested in Ottawa, where it will be promoted sampling, radio spots and newspaper ads by Bensimon*Byrne*DMB and B.
