The process of transformation: in search of Nirvana
Article Abstract:
Extensive restructuring which took place at European telecommunications equipment manufacturer Alcatel Standard Electrica (ASESA) over a 10-year period was managed in a distinct way by CEO Miguel Canalejo. The company's experiences offer a useful insight into the successful management of corporate transformations. Key issues include focusing on the transformation process as a whole, rather than on separate business outcomes, the importance of an early vision and the need to ensure fairness at all times.
