Japan investors extend overseas buying spree
Article Abstract:
Japanese investors spent $8.52 billion on foreign stocks between April and June 1996. They also bought 1.48 trillion yen in foreign bonds during the same period. This buying trend indicates that the Japanese are becoming bullish about foreign markets for the first time since Japan's economic slowdown in 1989. The trend also suggests that many Japanese are becoming less apprehensive about holding foreign currencies.

Japan's big exporters seen faring well despite effect of falling dollar
Article Abstract:
Conventional wisdom says that the falling value of the US dollar will have an adverse impact on Japanese exporters. However, the opposite is taking place with the share prices of Japanese exporters faring well while those of importers, who should be taking advantage of lower costs overseas, are going down. Analysts believe that Japanese exporters are a better investment today as their profitability is better.
