US targets safe skies for Africa
Article Abstract:
Mali, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Angola, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Cote d'Ivoire and Kenya are the African countries that are being helped by the US to enhance their aviation infrastructure through their participation in the Safe Skies project unveiled by US Secretary of Transport Rodney Slater. Over a period of three years, the US Federal Aviation Administration will provide technical advises and teams that will facilitate surveys of the aviation requirements of the participating African nations.

Greece eases ATC congestion at last
Article Abstract:
Greece's airspace capacity will improve by as much as 15% in the coming months with the introduction of secondary surveillance radar that has reduced separation distances on a number of principal routes to 5nm from 60nm. In Feb 1999, the new national ATC system was effected following the realization of a contract among controllers, engineers and the government concerning new work-related practices and pay issues.
