China's banks need reform, not just money
Article Abstract:
The Chinese government must introduce major policy reforms in the banking industry if it wants the financial sector to recover from massive losses. Aside from granting capital to banks in order to write-off their loans, fiscal regulators must also underscore the implementation of commercial bank lending requirements based on economic factors. The central bank must further be allowed to participate aggressively in lending activities, while granting it with independent supervisory authorities.
