Perilous endgame in Japan?
Article Abstract:
A growing number of economists and analysts expect Japan to face an economic crisis in 1999. Although Japan has managed to muddle its way through the Asian financial crisis, many observers believe that the country will not be able to avoid a serious economic meltdown in 1999. Others claim that avoiding or reducing the impact of the crisis requires immediate and serious restructuring of its economy. Still, several analysts are advising investors to stay away from stocks that are sensitive to economic changes.

Nikkei's stock average disappoints as fiscal year ends
Article Abstract:
The Japanese government appears incapable of addressing the country's financial difficulties, having accomplished none of its sound promises. Despite efforts by the Liberal Democratic Party to encourage investors in raising the country's Nikkei Stock Average, stock markets have been crippled by same old problems since the start of the party's term. Some analysts theorize that the country recently needs adequate and credible stimulus package in order to support the sector's long term development.

Japan's woes stall its "Year 2000" efforts
Article Abstract:
Japan's ailing financial system has undermined efforts of traders, stock brokers and government regulators to address the so-called Year 2000 computer problem. Sources revealed that only a few of Japanese companies have made the necessary systems adjustments for the millenium transition, and majority have not yet assessed their computer links. Analysts fear that the country's incapacity to deal with the problem would create a significant bearing on the world's economy.
