No cementing a dish of loose sand
Article Abstract:
The Chinese Communist Party is concerned about instability, though protests in the countryside do not appear to be coordinated. Party rule has yet to be challenged by protests, and economic change may have headed off a possible social explosion. The party's foundations have been weakened by a decline in its ideology, and its oragnizational force has been undermined by corruption. The party is unclear as to whether China is heading toward a market economy, and aims to symbolize stability, though stability itself can lead to greater instability in the future.
