No fuel aid - EU
Article Abstract:
The EU despite rising fuel prices has denied the European fishing operators any form of aid or subsidies. The incoming European fisheries commissioner only had sympathy to offer for the operators and said that aid by any state individually, would attract immediate European Commission inquiry and would fall foul of Common Fisheries Policy.

EU's management plan 'won't work': industry no to maximum sustainable yield
Article Abstract:
Maximum sustainable yield (MSY) concept is not suitable for managing the mixed fisheries of EU waters. European Commission with the support of North Sea Regional Advisory Council plans to take required stock management measures to attain MSY. Issues relating to this proposal are presented.
