No public offering yet for Renault
Article Abstract:
The French government plans to reduce its 44.2% stake in Renault to 25%. However, the government could still buy more shares. Nissan's 1999 agreement with Renault calls for the Japanese company to acquire 15% of renault as soon at it became profitable. Nissan is now in a position to make the acquisition, but the issue remains whether the acquisition is in the best interest of shareholders of either company. The profitability of each company is discussed.
