Norsk Hydro net rises 2.1%, lifted by lower tax rate

Second-quarter net profit for Norway's petroleum and aluminum company Norsk Hydro ASA rose by 2.1% to reach $1.04 bil, boosted by stable production and firm prices in the aluminum market, and by a lower tax rate. Revenue, however, dropped by 3.1% due in part by the Norwegian krone's appreciation against the US dollar.

Repsol's net rises 8.2%, lifted by higher oil prices

Repsol-YPF S.A. of Argentina posted first quarter increases in net profit by 8.2 percent to 862 million Euros ($1.1 billion) from 797 million Euros last year. The petroleum company is concerned that declining oil reserves and production could be affected by the nationalization of the energy industry in Bolivia.

Eni's net profit rises 22% on exploration division
