North Korea's block on food aid reflects regime push for control
Article Abstract:
North Korea is to ban international food assistance in a move to reduce outside contacts and regain food distribution control. The Asian country has requested development aid for power plants which it is not likely to receive if North Korea develops nuclear weapons. The Asian country may face political unrest due to high unemployment and rocketing inflation although foreign investment could improve the economy.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is seeking to become China's largest retailer with the hopes of acquiring Taiwanese company Trust-Mart. However, Wal-Mart faces competition from local retailers, as well as facing cultural differences that make running a national chain in China very difficult.
