Bavaria is Germany's biggest state and it has always had a strong sense of independence from the rest of the country. While many of the economic advantages it has had have dissipated since the reunion with East Germany, it still exerts a strong political influence.

Bohemia's raddled face
Article Abstract:
Czechoslovakia has numerous historic buildings that were built during the Middle Ages through the 19th century. Under communist rule that began in 1948, many of the buildings fell into decay. Foreign experts are being consulted to help restoration efforts.

Companies in Bavaria, Germany are contracting with firms in the Czech Republic for cheap labor such as assembly of manufactured parts. Some such ventures are profitable and fair, but many exploit the Czech laborers.
