Now the hard part for Cossette
Article Abstract:
Cossette Communication-Marketing of Toronto, Canada, begins preliminary work for the creative and media planning assignment of Bell Ontario's coveted $60-million account. Cossette became the agency of choice for the telecom company after it was rated as having the strongest total capability with its telecom experience. The number of people the agency will hire to handle the Bell account has not yet been determined. Meanwhile, Bell is planning on a 90-day transition period, during which the business will move from Cossette's fellow incumbents, Leo Burnett and BBDO, Vickers & Benson, which handled advertising for the ExpressVu satellite TV service.

Fees in flux
Article Abstract:
The results of the Assn of Canadian Advertisers' 1999 Agency Renumeration Study reveal that the 15% commission system is no longer being used to pay advertising agencies. A mere 5% of the survey's 97 respondents persist in using the 15% commission system to pay for the services of their advertising agencies. However, as many as 30% of the respondents still use a form of commission, sometimes in combination with fees, for advertising agency compensation. The survey concludes that agency compensation is still in a state of flux, with 40% of respondents having made significant changes in their agency renumeration agreements.
