Intuit has bested even Microsoft because of the simplicity of its Quicken product. However as more people begin to use the Internet for at-home banking, Intuition has had to plan on how to tap into this lucrative market. Many Quicken products are a part of the web-based Quicken Financial Network.

Oracle has promoted the idea of a future in which network computers, rather than personal computers, are dominant, and the idea also has been embraced by Microsoft. Microsoft has gotten off to a faster start, but the choice between Windows and Java software may eventually decide the battle.
