Old South, Sunkist get $7M marketing boost

Lykes Brothers Inc. of Tampa, FL, will launch a new marketing campaign for its Old South and Sunkist brands that will reportedly cost more than C$7 million. Only available in Canada, the 59-year-old frozen orange juice brand Old South has recently underwent new packaging and now comes in two flavors. The brand, which has had no marketing support for five years, will now be backed by a gardening-themed campaign. Meanwhile, Lykes is presently rolling out a major campaign for its Sunkist Premium chilled citrus juices, which includes sponsorships on a figure skating tour and a fund-raising activity.

Mister tea

Tetley Canada President Glynne Jones provides the leadership and vision that allows the Mississauga, Ontario, Canada-based company to remain as the biggest tea brand in Canada. Appointed as Tetley's president in 1994, Jones is only the second man to be named as president in Tetley's 30-year history. Jones attributes his drive and enthusiasm for allowing Tetley to retain its leadership in the tea market.

John Boynton has been appointed president of Boston, MA-based Internet start-up eYak. The Canadian native was formerly VP of sales and marketing at Toronto, Ontario-based Sprint Canada Inc before joining eYak. He also held similar marketing positions at AT and T Canada Corp and Kentucky Fried Chicken Corp. He will start performing his job as president of eYak on May 1, 2000.
