Politicians' increased reliance on the use of newer media resources, such as talk-radio and cable TV, was supposed to render the older and more established media vehicles obsolete. However, studies indicate that network TV and newspapers are still effective means of imparting messages to voters.

Article Abstract:
Chinese officials are finding it harder to kept foreign news information from their citizens. Foreign newspapers are easy to control, but satellite television is not. Satellite dishes are officially banned, but the government has realized the ban is impossible to enforce.
