Tandem AGV systems: a partitioning algorithm and performance comparison with conventional AGV systems
Article Abstract:
A heuristic partitioning algorithm based on a column generation technique was developed to configure tandem automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems. The partitioning model indicated that good partitions may be resolved for tandem AGV systems. Moreover, results indicated that tandem AGV systems are effective for small systems with three or four vehicles. Likewise, AGV systems perform considerably better than conventional AGV systems for larger systems.
