Open the skies
Article Abstract:
The US and Britain have sought to remove regulations have have affected the aviation industry, but there have been obstacles since each country seeks to protect national airlines. The US has signed agreements with more than 30 countries world wide, 13 of these being in Europe, and there is a need for a similar agreement with Britain. There should be an end to restrictions on foreigners being able to own US airlines, and British carriers should be able to take on passengers in the US. There are legal obstacles to these goals and there is opposition from airlines and labor unions, so a compromise could be achieved whereby restrictions on fares and flights are ended.
