Operations research applications in Taiwan: A linguistic approach
Article Abstract:
The utilization of specified Operations Research (OR) techniques and the application areas of OR in firms in Taiwan is studied. A linguistic approach as been applied to transform the data to total utility values for ranking, since the data gathered from the service firms surveyed are represented by fuzzy linguistic terms. It was established that the two most frequently used OR methods are the decision making with computers and statistical forecasting, while the two least used are the Markovian decision processes and queuing models.

An extended warranty policy with options open to consumers
Article Abstract:
Research examining types of product warranties and their costs is presented. Particular attention is given to optimal policies for consumers derived from calculations of total discounted costs of product warranty models including free repair periods and extended warranty periods.
