Optimal segmentation of projects - schedule and cost considerations
Article Abstract:
The problem of optimally segmenting repeated, sequential activities in a project was examined within a mathematical programming framework. Both homogeneous and non-homogeneous versions of the problem were considered for the case of linear cost and duration functions. Project segmentation, which offers an alternative to critical path analysis, seeks to have the work performed in a parallel fashion to minimize project duration and costs.

Ensuring quality in resource constrained project scheduling
Article Abstract:
Two mixed integer formulations are used for modeling and solving resource constrained project scheduling problems to optimize quality. The schedules gained when optimizing quality outdo the schedules gained with limiting makespan, or optimizing the net present value of project cash flows objectives relative to makespan, cost and computational times.
